In disaster-affected areas,continuous support is necessary in order for disaster victims to take back the lives and communities they lost, and social demand is high for the training of personnel responsible for social welfare. However, there has been little research on the roles and functions of social work professionals in response to disasters, nor can it be said that educational programs are sufficient. Therefore, in this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with social work professionals, then, using trajectory equifinality modeling (TEM), the competencies that were demonstrated in the disaster support processes were investigated. The results suggest the importance of the role of social welfare in supporting empowerment such as in “restoration of autonomy” during disasters.
