The study was conducted by sending a questionnaire to 200 nursing workers at two general hospitals. The retrieval rate was 70.0%, and the rate of effective response was 46.5%.\nThe study results clarified the following four points: (1) If the staff is subject to violence from patients or their families, their recognition and response to this violence is dependent on whether accompanied by an extraordinary and physical impact; (2) If violence from patients or their families involves sexual behavior, factors other than as stated in (1) will affect the response deeply; (3) To avoid victims of violence becoming silent, the work environment must be established to respect the safety and dignity of the nursing workers , and a uniform standards and a system for identifying violence must be enforced as an organization to supplement and monitor the tendencies discovered in the results of this study;
