| 内容記述 | 保育園・幼稚園では、内田莉莎子訳の「おおきなかぶ」がお話遊びに用いられることが多いが、小学校国語の授業では西郷竹彦訳の「大きなかぶ」が教材として用いられることが多い。これら二つの「おおきなかぶ」は、あらすじは同じものの、文章表現の細部に違いが見られる。このことは二作品の個性の違いに繋がっている。内田訳の「おおきなかぶ」は、かぶが抜けるかどうかの結末を重視しており、文章のリズミカルさが魅力である。西郷訳の「おおきなかぶ」は、子どもたちに、登場人物の気持ちや作品のテーマを考えさせる表現となっている。これらの個性の違いから、保育教材としては内田訳の「おおきなかぶ」が、小学校国語教材としては西郷訳の「おおきなかぶ」が、よりふさわしいと考えるものである。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The Giant Turnip, which was translated by Risako Uchida, is read by teachers in kindergartens.At elementary schools, teachers use Takehiko Saigo's translation of The Giant Turnip as a Japanese lesson teaching material. Although these two versions of the picture book have the same story, the texts are not the same thus making these picture books distinctive from each other.\nRisako Uchida's translation puts greater importance on the conclusion; when the turnip is pulled out. Moreover, the text is rhythmical. Takehiko Saigo's translation focuses more on the feelings of the characters and the theme of the tale.\nTherefore, Uchida's translation is suitable for kindergarten children whereas Saigo's translation is excellent as a teaching material for an elementary school.\nI came to this understanding by comparing the childcare using The Giant Turnip as teaching material for a story play with lessons in the elementary school using The Giant Turnip as teaching material. | |||||
