| 内容記述 | 本研究では、1945年以降の地域社会の在り方を巡る代表的論考についての検討を通じ、日本社会特有の「コミュニティ」概念が導き出されたことを明らかにする。「望ましい地域社会」が、「戦争協力組織」「前近代の遺物」という「負の遺産」を継承する町内会と峻別される。現代社会における諸問題を解決するため、地域社会の積極的意義が提示される。コミュニティは、現代における「望ましい地域社会」である。しかし、普遍的価値意識を持つ住民が主体的に関わらない場合、コミュニティは個人の自由を奪う「望ましくない地域社会」へと変貌する。地域社会における「負の遺産」との絶えざる緊張関係の中でのみ、コミュニティの形成・維持は可能である。「誰にとって」「どのように」、そして「いかにして」という視点から、望ましい地域社会としての「コミュニティ」は、今日においてこそ徹底した検討・検証が必要とされている。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | By examining the leading studies on the ideal forms of local social organization published since 1945, the author demonstrates that a concept of “community” unique to Japanese society has been introduced. “Desirable forms of local social organization” are distinct from the chonaikai that continued the “negative legacies” of the wartime cooperatives and the outdated pre-modern organization. To solve various problems in contemporary society, a positive model of local social organization is presented. The community in modern Japanese society is “a desirable form of local social organization.” However, when residents with universal values and attitudes do not become actively engaged, a community can turn into an “undesirable form of local social organization” that deprives people of their personal freedom. Communities can be formed and maintained only within the context of a constant tension with the negative legacies left by older forms of the chonaikai. A thorough examination and study of “communities” as desirable forms of local organization must be conducted in today’s context by focusing on for whom, how, and in what way they should be organized. | |||||
